Strong Roots
In 1978, the company’s founder, David Currier, was serving as a Henniker Selectman. Under New Hampshire law, which has been on the books since the early 1700’s, Selectmen were required to perambulate the town boundaries at least every five years with the Selectmen from adjoining towns. During the perambulation, the Selectmen arrived at a Henniker historic landmark, the bound tree. This large white oak, which marked the boundary between Henniker, Hopkinton, and Warner, was Hennikers’ northeast boundary point. This boundary point had flourished as a guidepost since 1752 when Town No. Six was surveyed by Matthew Patten. The historical significance of the tree and all that it represented prompted David to name his new business “Bound Tree Corporation.”
Today, Bound Tree Medical is the leading supplier of pre-hospital products in the United States. With the formation of the Federal Government Division in 1987, Bound Tree Medical made a commitment to support the medical needs of the Department of Defense and federal agencies. Although the company has evolved and acquired many supporting organizations over the years, it still remains rooted in the ethics and foundation of it's heritage.
